Young mothers

I was travelling by auto yesterday .A  lady boarded with a little baby in her arms.
I like watching kids and their antics though I am yet to have one of my own. Once she had settled down I caught a glimpse of her face. To my surprise , she was not a lady but just a teenager barely of 15 or 16. What startled me the most was the sadness, despondency and despair in her eyes. I am 30 years old,married and yet feel puerile  when it comes to the prospect of having a baby. And there she sat with a 6 months old on her lap. Her calm,dejected exterior filled me with sorrow. She is playing the role of a mother to a baby when it should be the  other way round.

In our country  marriage isn't for 2people to come together ,bond and share happiness. The principal reason rather becomes procreation. Once a girl gets married,she is hounded by almost every people around her to start a family. Women,in this patriarchal society already are denied a gamut of basic rights, marriage just confiscates few more .
